Are you a regular Skype user? Skype is probably the defacto standard when it comes to Internet based telephony. The extremely cheap or even free long distance is obviously appealing. I’ve written previously about how to improve your Skype call quality and today I have another Skype tip as it relates to call quality – but perhaps not one you would expect.
If you ever had the desire to alter your voice and sound like someone else then the Skype Voice Changer may be up your alley. The free software allows you to apply sound filters to your Skype call in real-time. While it is still considered experimental and more of a proof of concept, Skype Voice Changer is a snap to use. Select one or more provided filters from the list and click the Connect to Skype button in the top menu bar. That’s it!
However, don’t get your hopes up. The software promises to make your voice sound like someone else – but someone else can’t be defined. Your outputted voice certainly won’t sound like your own – but nor will it sound like Daffy Duck or Sean Connery. The sound filters merely adjust the pitch and other auditory parameters. Multiple filters can be applied at once and sliders can be adjusted to control the severity of the effect.
Skype Voice Changer is a fun novelty and worth checking out even briefly – who knows, it may form the foundation of a clever April Fool’s Day trick?

It doesn’t work properly. >.<
What is it doing for you?
