I’m a little late to the game, once again, but here is my quick Good, Bad, Ugly review on the recently released Google Desktop Search for Linux.
Good
Easy installation in Ubuntu using the provided .deb package
Starts automatically at boot
Integrates Local Search into normal Google results in your browser
Quick Search access by hitting Control Control
Respects my GNOME [...]
