I’d just like to say I tried so hard today to not become EA’s whore. See, there was an article in the NY Times yesterday about video game publishers relying heavily on video game sequels to pad their bottom line. Rather than coming out with original and innovating games, publishers are following Hollywood’s sequel syndrome and releasing rehashes and updates of the same game, yearly. EA certainly isn’t alone here, though they are the major focus of the article, and rightly so. Of the 26 games yet to be released this year, only one is not a sequel. Wow!
That being said, however, like a junky urging for his next fix, I only lasted till mid afternoon before going to my local EB Games for my Madden fix, 2006 style.
I’d just like to say that Metroid is probably my all time favorite series Nintendo has created. Moreso than Mario or Zelda. I must have played the first Metroid completely through dozens of times, and now I can relive the adventure in Metroid Cubed. While it is only a demo, the proof of what can be accomplished to spice up your retro games is commendable. It would be excellent to see this voxel application applied on other games of that time. Who’s with me?
I’d just like to say I came across this website that provides a nice listing of free, legal games for your thumbs consumption. Not excited? Well, these aren’t your typical free games one can expect to find on the Internets. These are commercial games that, for whatever reason, are now available for free. Some even include the source code for your modification pleasure, if you are into this sort of thing. There are a number of classics that are defintely worth your while to check out, especially if you were too young to enjoy them the first time around.
Have fun!

I’d just like to say that I’ve felt the need to comment on this GTA mini sex story. The situation here is some senator has gotten wind of the ‘Hot Coffee’ mod that is available on the PC version of GTA San Andreas. Haven’t heard of it? Well it seems after applying the ‘patch’, jumping through two hoops, sticking your thumbs in your ears while reciting God Bless America; a horrifying hard-core sex scene is made possible! The tragedy!

I’d just like to say I finally finished off SWAT 4 the other night. It’s true, I’m not really into this tactical shooter genre. I can appreciate the realistic approach where what you do affects the outcome of any given level, but the only suspense this game elicited from me was whether my lethal vs non lethal force ratio was enough to get me through to the next level. I often felt out of touch with the action unfolding on my screen; my SWAT team would react and before I knew it, bodies and bullets were everywhere. Maybe I’m awful at this?
