I’d just like to say that geeks and beer do in fact mix, and quite well at that. At DEF CON 13 last week, Team Kegbot unveiled their creation, a Linux powered beer keg. Simply, it is a beer dispenser that keeps track of who you are and how much you have drank, among other interesting statistics. Fabulous!
This reminds me of a simple program my roommate and I wrote in college. It was very similar in function of the Kegbot, outside of the actual dispensing mechanism. An X10 wireless remote would execute a C/C++ program that would manage the statslog, depending on what key was pressed. Simple, but effective for what we needed.
