It’s another Monday morning at the office, the day had already started out poorly when you had forgotten to set your alarm the night before. Frazzled, you frantically dash out the door and arrive only 15 minutes late - maybe no one noticed? You begin your normal morning routine with a fresh cup of coffee, lightly sweetened with a good amount of milk. The carton tips and rather than the familiar sound, a disturbing plop plop is heard. Chunky milk! Looks like someone has the case of the Mondays!
A group of Chinese and American scientists have attempted to eradicate the problem of spoiled milk embedding a small metal ribbon in the container. At checkout, the carton would pass through a magnetic field and depending on the magnitude of the vibrations - an alarm would sound. The cost? Just a penny.
So, this doesn’t actually prevent the chunky experience at home but it’s a great first step. Technology steps in when a best before date just won’t do.
