Scan your Hard Drive for Read Errors

Do you suspect your hard drive is about to pack it in? If you are looking for a free Windows utility that will quickly determine if your hard drive is falling ill, Ariolic Disk Scanner might do the trick. Disk Scanner does a read-only scan of the entire disk/partition; visually flagging trouble areas with a red block. Each block represents a sector on your hard drive, and Disk Scanner will methodically hit each one. Obviously, green is the only color you want to see as that means everything checked out OK with that particular sector. As no installation is necessary and the entire program encompasses just a single exe, this is a great utility to keep on your general purpose thumb drive. It is also not limited to just hard drives; thumb drives, floppies, and CD/DVD are all processable.

The drawback to some however, Disk Scanner is only able to identify trouble areas on the disk, it is unable to correct the problem directly. I’ll ask you this though, would you continue to trust a hard drive that has already shown signs of failing? Use Disk Scanner and know when it is time to replace that disk!
