Turning to the cloud for many of your computing needs is currently the hot trend. If you haven’t found yourself dabbling there yet it’s likely only a matter of time. In actuality, you probably are leveraging the cloud concept without truly realizing it. Web services such as Flickr or Picasa are all cloud oriented, for example. Regardless, as we turn more and more to the cloud as our main source of content storage the idea of first saving files locally to your hard drive and then uploading or importing into the respective cloud services environment is cumbersome at best.

Cloud Save is a Google Chrome extension that aims to automate the process of saving files to the cloud. Specifically, the extensions adds context menu within Chrome to save or upload media or files directly into many of the most popular cloud services. Today Cloud Save supports:

  • Drop Box
  • Google Docs
  • Picasa
  • Amazon Cloud
  • Box.net
  • Flickr
  • Facebook
  • and many many more

The implementation and usage is simple and easy – right-click on any file or media type and access the Cloud Save menu item, select the desired destination and away you go.

Ignoring logical constraints – you can’t upload a zip file to Flickr obviously – the process is painless. Better, the extension is updated regularly so if your cloud provider of choice isn’t currently supported it’s quite possible it will be in the very near future.
