Not all videos on YouTube translate well without the visuals but from time to time you may come across an audio track that accompanies a video that you’d like to keep. Maybe it’s a toddler thrashing out a Metallica cover or an 80′s cartoon intro tune such as He-Man; whatever the case may be, YouTube does not make it easy to save content, video or audio. In this circumstance, you do have the power – the power to rip the audio to MP3.
As with most things on the Internet, there are dozens of ways to accomplish this goal. However, you’d be hard pressed to find a site that does it as easily and painlessly as flvto.com. FLVTO is a completely free service that, when passed a YouTube URL, will quickly strip and convert the audio to MP3.
From the site, paste the URL into the only form field presented. As above, I’m using the He-Man theme music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yeA7a0uS3A.
FLVTO will grab the video from YouTube and indicate the progress of it’s conversion.
Once completed, you’ll be prompted to save the resulting MP3 automatically.
You’d be hard pressed to find anything easier than this!
Update on 6/27/2010: It looks like FLVto has changed their site around and the resulting functionality and features are not the same as when I reviewed it – to the point that I can no longer recommend the service.
WHat a crock of SH*T when you make a selection from FLVTo.com it just keep poping up endless surveys.
Typical viral crap where they just want information and give you nothing
Interesting … just checked the site again and it’s definitely different than it was when i reviewed it.
I’ll update my post. Thanks, and sorry.
Thank you
