Every iteration of Firefox brings about new features and performance enhancements. However, sometimes the word feature is misplaced and not entirely an accurate statement to everyone. Case in point, the Firefox developers opted to remove the Properties command from the right-click menu in the browser – namely in the vein of simplification and consolidation. In it’s place, the functionality is somewhat buried under the new View Page/Image Info. It’s a subtle yet odd change that has left many users, myself included, questioning why the necessity of change.
To find the image properties for the Google logo requires going into the Media tab. Those few clicks matter to many!
Thankfully, I’m not alone in finding annoyance with this new feature. Leveraging one of Firefox’s greatest strengths, extensions, a developer has returned the functionality found in Firefox 3.5 and earlier. The Element Properties 6 extension literally pulls the relevant code snippets from the old Firefox release to reintroduce the Properties option to the right-click context menu. Simple and easy – the basis for every essential Firefox extension.
The Properties element returns.
Along with it’s expected behavior.
