It’s Apple iTunes with DRM forever

dylan_drm_sucks

Something that just a few years ago many thought impossible, Apple has replaced Wal-Mart as the 1000 pound gorilla in retail music, for the month of January 2008 at least. Figures released recently have Apple at 19% of the market to 15% for Wal-Mart. Apparently the concept of the market rejecting DRM is overblown and consumers, as always, speak with their wallet. Furthermore, the speculation earlier this month that Apple would move to a subscription model also seems unlikely with the latest market share numbers. America loves the underdog so it will be interesting how Apple handles their latest triumph. But don’t fret Wal-Mart, you are still my number one retailer for flannel shirts and shotgun ammo!
