Importing Outlook Calendar to Google Calendar

The moment has finally arrived, Google has released the much rumored Google Calendar today in beta form (go figure!). Here are the steps necessary to migrate from Outlook to Google’s implementation of calendaring.

1. From Outlook, click File->Import and Export
2. Select Export to a file
3. Select Comma Separated Values (DOS). I had to install the appropriate translator here.
4. Select folder to export from, Calendar and the location to save the file.
5. Browse, name, and save the file some place easy to find it. (Desktop)
6. Click Next then Finish. Outlook will take a few minutes to export your calendar.
7. From Google Calendar, navigate to Settings->Import Calendar.
8. Select your exported Outlook calendar by clicking Browse.
9. Select the desired Google calendar and click Import. Google calendar will take a few minutes to import your calendar. When it’s done, you’ll know it.
10. Politely beg Google to integrate the calendar into Gmail.
