Google Desktop Search on Ubuntu
I’m a little late to the game, once again, but here is my quick Good, Bad, Ugly
review on the recently released Google Desktop Search for Linux.
Good
- Easy installation in Ubuntu using the provided .deb package
- Starts automatically at boot
- Integrates Local Search into normal Google results in your browser
- Quick Search access by hitting Control Control
- Respects my GNOME default applications when opening files returned in results page
Bad
- A little CPU heavy on my Centrino Laptop
- File writes/updates are perceivably slower
Ugly
- Look and Feel not with the rest of my GNOME/GTK theme
- The Beagle Project is still king of Desktop Search for me
