Nothing is more frustrating than a stuck printer queue where one print job gunks up the entire printing process. A stuck job in the queue will typically cause the printer to go into an offline mode. If you’re lucky, you can locate the job within the print queue and just delete it; then bring the printer back online. Often times this is not enough – if only because the malformed job can’t be removed or restarted. Flush Print Jobs is a simple free utility that lives up to its logical naming convention. The process is as involved as downloading the open-source binary and executing the appropriate version for your Windows – either 32 or 64 bit. Specifically, within the folder 32 or 64 run the batch file flash.bat. The program will execute a Command Window where it will display what exactly it’s doing as it steps through the entire flushing process. Two things that are of note – Flush Print Jobs is an equal opportunity flushing; all documents for any print queue are wiped, not just the one causing problems. Secondly, are Windows systems that use UAC you’ll need to execute the batch file with administrative rights. The utility will not automatically prompt you for elevated privileges – the process will simply fail with access denied messages in the Command Window.
