You should not be surprised I am a huge advocate for keyboard shortcuts – any singular process in an application or operating system should have a corresponding keyboard shortcut associated with it. It’s easily proven that learning and using keyboard shortcuts can improve your efficiency on every day common place tasks on a computer. A few seconds wasted by lifting your hands from the keyboard and transition to your mouse may sound like a minor operation but it actually breaks your rhythm.
Microsoft has done an excellent job of expanding their keyboard shortcut support and functionality in Windows 7. Today I came across another handy shortcut, purely on accident. In Firefox 3.5, you have the ability to re-open a browser window you accidentally closed with the combination of CTRL+SHIFT+N. Having a situation where this was necessary, I initiated the shortcut. However, instead of being inside Firefox I was actually inside Windows Explorer and to my amazement, CTRL+SHIFT+N created a New Folder – selected with keyboard focus so that it can quickly be renamed to whatever you desire.

It’s a tiny tech tip, but one that many may find useful.
