USBFlashCopy is a free for personal use Windows utility that will backup your USB devices automatically, as they are connected to the PC, on the fly and in the background. By using USBFlashCopy no longer do you have to worry about maintaining current copies of the contents on each USB thumb drive.
USBFlashCopy requires minimal user configuration. Generally on first execution you will want to look at the Media Drives section. Here you can set a few options on how the software handles drive letters of devices as they appear on your PC. For example, you can tell the software to always ignore a particular drive letter or always backup another letter. The default setting of auto was intelligent enough to accomplish the desired effect in testing – but it’s good to know that a bit more fine tuning is possible if necessary.
Lastly, under the Profiles header contains additional options as it relates to the backup process. Things such as copy speed or even backup destination directory are all worth configuring further. Further, it’s possible to ignore particular files or file types. Profiles are uniquely identified and applied by referencing the serial number of the attached USB device. Therefor different profiles can be applied to different devices.
